Upgrade to Malwarebytes Pro version for a one off payment.
Search for coupon codes and you can get it cheaper.
Add Spywareblaster and WOT and you are just about there.

You could add Online Armour personal firewall as another layer of protection, there are so many combinations, as some it's trial and error and the last thing you need is to bog down your pc, i use Malewarebytes Pro and win patrol plus..

Thank you Leo, im just a fan of OA or Comodo, to be honest im not that sure about avast firewall as to how good it is, as i tried it a month ago, not saying it's bad either as i really don't know never tried to make changes and assumed it was just the MS firewall that was inplace at the time..on the other hand it certainly wasn't intrusive either as OA and Comodo can be,

@Jaycub: Actually Avast firewall by default is silent like Windows firewall but that can be configured to ask for outgoing connections. But it has no HIPS like PA or Comodo.
@gerz: You can add No Autorun, Winpatrol (if you can afford but a lifetime license of the plus version), Link Extend (alternative to WOT addon), Sandboxie.

    Hitman Pro - on demand . +1
I don't need to know everything, I just need to know where to find it, when I need it.

Your current combination is not that bad. I suggest you to change only the AV. Panda Cloud and Avira have better detection rate than Avast. Also install WOT and keep your MBAM on demand to avoid possible slowdown of your PC.

@ gerz2405, if your PC is not compromised by virus infection just stay with current combination. Avast paid version provides frequent updates than free version and you can also use avast sandbox for safe surfing. As said by Sujay and Indranil you can use winpatrol and hitman pro if that can make you feel safer. Also you can add Norton DNS.

Keep your setup as it is and refer to this guide for more tips

    Securing Windows Guide

Since you're using XP, I'd suggest running as a Limited User with SuRun.
