I've been seeing different security vendors employing malware monitoring/intelligence on their sites and even on special dedicated desktop gadgets to give real-time updates, which I personally find interesting. One of my favorite is Kaspersky's Virus Watch 3.0 which is one of the pioneer in this field.
Symantec just released its latest version of Norton 360 v5 and one of its new feature is called CyberCrime Index, which uses a statistical model based on information from Symantec's Global Intelligence Network, ID Analytics, and DataLossDB. The new feature is updated in real-time, just like the standard web virus index. Well, this additional feature may frigthen some people and could be use for marketing reasons too, by persuading you to buy the product or else ( fear factor reason ).
