    Virus Protection vs Virus Cleaning

    Hi,

Guys , take a look at this ----> Page ( Video from COMODO TV ) .
Protection vs Cleaning….two very different things!
Should we have both in a single product?
    Whats the point?
If a product has failed in protecting you from the infection in the first place, how can you expect it to clean it? And if the product can protect you in the first place, why do you need the cleaning part included?
So as you can see, having both capability of Protection and cleaning in one product is unnecessary!
    Best regards !

absolutely wrong statement in my opinion. COMODO guy might fail to understand the whole point here. Well there are some antivirus that fail to protect the computer from the attack but they clean what others would not be able to do so. DrWeb has great cleaning capabilities but it lacks some frontier protection abilities. ( i heard this one somewheer else )

I have to agree somewhat with that assertion. Ask yourself this:

    * Your machine is showing definite signs of malware infection. Now, if you scan with the resident security software, which has [possibly] let the malware through in the first place, and that scan comes up all clear.......are you going to be convinced there is no infection??
It is often better to keep one's mouth shut and appear to be a fool than to open it and remove all doubt!

Antivirus should have good cleaning capabilities as well as restoration.

We all know that a computer can still be infected by "undetectable" malware and most of the time it takes a couple of days for the undetectable malware to get detected. The antivirus would be useless if it cannot clean the detected malware.

Generally, all security software has technical limitations, that is given! So, prevention will always be, better than cure...that's effective in all sorts of ...

    Also, see whitelisting vrs blacklisting!

    Exactly ceyfer!!

Why would anyone wish to install real time security software which is great at cleaning up but lacking in front-line protection? Doesn't make any sense to me.

We have dedicated software such as free MBAM and SAS to help clean. What we need from our primary security software is superior real time protection....prevention!!

The antivirus would be useless if it cannot clean the detected malware.
LOL....you'll get no argument from me on that one Raymond.
