Avast 6.0.1203 giveaway (July 18th) and password issue.
Dear all,
Following what Ray suggested last July, 18th, I've installed AVAST (ver 6.0.1203) on two of my computers (win.XP SP.3 and Windows 7 Starter).
In the Win.7 installation everything has always been alwafine.
In the Win.XP installation, Avast asks me now a password that - I think - I've never set!
Avast asks me a password when I try to change the settings of the different modules.
Does some of you know this issue? I could not find anything useful by googling...
Thanx for everything.
Lello Siddi.

Hi Lello welcome to Raymond Forum
. One thing tell me only you access that win xp installed machine ?? If not then somebody put password on avast settings. If you are the only one then it's strange.
I don't need to know everything, I just need to know where to find it, when I need it.

As said by Indra, maybe someone put a password on it, so that arrangements can not be changed.
Maybe you could take over in a way to uninstall, then reinstall..

that giveaway was meant for people from Germany (or Austria, I do not remember exactly).
I would not wonder if people from Germany only will be able to use those keys
Hence I'd reccomend to uninstall Avast Internet Security and install Avast antivirus free + sandboxie + a good free personal firewall

Thank you Leo for info.. Apparently there are such problems, some even from several years ago.

Hi, everybody. And thanx for suggesting me...
And thanx also for the "welcome".
Well; nobody can access my machine.
The first thing I did was to clear my computer uninstalling avast and start from scratch again. I used the same license that I got that day. No asking for a password during the new installation; nevertheless, I can not enter the settings because of the same password request.
That's a pity...
I was that day and I am actually in Germany.
Well; I thank you again for the advices...
Lello.

I just tried installing Avast Internet Security with the license from July 18th on my test computer.
No problems and updated fine.
I found out how to reset Avast! password, will confirm and post.
