Thanks much for the heads up Leo. I use the portable version of SAS to scan both of my PCs, so I will be on the look out to see if the Ask toolbar is included with that version also.

Did you see the quote in Corrine's post?

It's not bundled, but rather an optional install that, if elected, enables a Professional feature - scheduled scanning at no charge. A "bundle" means it's included and installed as part of the package - we have an optional install. Nothing is disabled or features lost if the user elects not to install - it's still the great free SUPERAntiSpyware we have always produced!

I saw that too. But not pre-checked.. that's a relief . I think many are not purchasing SAS Pro and that's why they have decided this. But they should have gone for better alternative like Bing/Google . Why people keep ASKing all the time!!

As long as it is optional (meaning that it is not enabled by default), then I personally think it is fine since they need to pay the bills.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with the Ask toolbar being included, if it is optional. I always look for that kind of thing whenever I use freeware and make sure it is unchecked, before installation. If I do really like the software, I usually make a donation to the developer to help with costs. I think they deserve that IMHO.

    Happy

    Thanks for the news leofelix

But after latest versions SuperAntispyware portable have got my negative feedback at other reasons. At least at Portable version you can't update signature database anymore straight from the program and that sucks. Everytime you want and need to update database you need to download whole program again from homepage

That's right. It is the user's responsibility to read and don't just blindly click the Next button.

    Yes.
This is why I wrote "Not prechecked".
A security software which "reccomends" to install a well known adware and a privacy risk (unpatched since 2003 according to Secunia) is a contraddiction
