Can you help my friend........

Hi,
My Friend had order new desktop and the shop owner is providing 12 months of free security.
He has a choice between bitdefender internet security and kasperskyl Internet security.
Which one should he opt for?
He is general user and will use pc for surfing,chatting,downloading,music and games.
The one it matter to him is light security
(P.S. I am not comparing two but just want to help him)
He have to confirm dealer by 12.P.M IST on 7 nov

There is no need to be a "tech guy" to choose an antivirus

You cant imagine how dumb people are abt security of machine

whatever you decide to get should be okay
but if your friend is into Gaming or any system intensive work like Video editing etc
you can think about avoiding Bitdefender 2012(much heavier than 2011) but BD is currently on top of the security game in terms of protection

Kaspersky should be the next logical choice

but personally speaking
Avira Free and Comodo FW runs lighter on my gaming system than most other security suites(free/paid) out there
and i don't think i have made a compromise on security

I had tough experience with BIS and KIS as far I have seen creates some problems with some game websites through its antibanner.
If he prefers paid security softwares, better let him know about other options too like Eset/Vipre/Outpost/Norton etc. Or just tell him to stay with Avast free with windows firewall.

Bottomline: Every security software has its strength and weekness. Some run better in some configuration and worst in other cases. So, its better to keep him educate and let him know that keeping thing simple (and legal) is the best way to stay protected.
