The problem is that I can no longer seem to install Kaspersky! I downloaded the KAV 30-day trial today to give the product a spin, installed it with no problems and let it run a scan of the C: Drive. During scanning, I read up on KIS and decided perhaps it would be better to have that one instead, so I downloaded the .exe for that. Of course, during setup, it prompted me to uninstall the other Kaspersky, and I did.
But since then I can't install either program! Every time I try, it tells me I have to restart before I can install and cancels the process "due to error". Yet every time I've restarted, it has had no affect whatsoever and the .exe(s) continue to give me the restart prompt.
Can anybody tell me what's going on here?

Try this and reinstall Kaspersky.

Tried it several times (changing directories and such) and it didn't work. Kaspersky still won't reinstall.
I've also searched for any remaining signs of the words KAV7, KIS7, or Kaspersky on the C: Drive and they've come up with nothing.

Changing directories won't work because when you install Kaspersky, it'd look for previous installation. Perhaps you should clean your registry that has something to do with KAV, KIS, or Kaspersky.

I'll certainly try it. How/where do I go about cleaning my registry?

To think of it, you can try using any registry cleaner to scan your registry and remove any invalid entries. CCleaner has that feature.

Just ran CC. Didn't help. :-<
If it will help any, this is exactly what happens:
^ Run kav7.0.0.125en file (acquired from the Kaspersky website)
^ InstallShield Wizard opens
^ Wizard prompts where to save the KAV folder (default is C:\KAV\KAV70\English)
^ Wizard extracts necessary files to the KAV folder
^ Windows Installer starts preparing for KAV installation
^ Windows Installer cancels and warning from Kaspersky pops up stating "You must restart your computer before proceeding with the installation."
^ Wizard returns stating "Installation interrupted: Installation ended prematurely because of an error."
And if I restart, then go to the KAV folder to proceed with the setup application from there, Windows Installer starts preparing for the installation and then the same warning pops up.
And to my knowledge, aside from the extracted files in C:\KAV\KAV70\English, the only file that remains from the failed setup is a .pf in the C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch folder.

Are you able to provide a screenshot to the error you got?
Follow the steps below.
1. Download and Run Kaspersky Removal Tool.
http://support.kaspersky.com/downloads/utils/kavremover.zip
2. Download this file and run wXP_kl5.0_drv_unreg.reg. Clicl YES.
ftp://ftp.kaspersky.com/utils/KIS6/REMOVER/kl5.0_drv_unreg.zip
3. Go to Start -> Run -> type regedit
On the left side, navigate to:
hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run
Find for the key called avp6_post_uninstall and delete the key.
4. Try reinstalling Kaspersky again.

Kaspersky Removal Tool detected no Kaspersky Anti-Virus program, but deleting the avg6_post key worked! Kaspersky reinstalled with no problems!
Thank you so much for your time and help, Raymond! <3

I was away for a long time
Could have pointed you to a good registry cleaner
here is the link
[url=http://www.worldstart.com/weekly-download/archives/reg-cleaner4.3.htm]Reg-Cleaner 4.3
It is a very powerful utility but its free :D
Apart from the usual cleaning functions its main window shows entries grouped by software & author, use this to remove any particular application,
Note
1]updated versions of regcleaner are available but this one is the safest.
