AVG is bad for the system and it's consistent false positives make it very annoying.

Clyde1, Believe what they say here about AVG, it's really sucks, I have one BitDefender Antivirus 2009 Genuine key that i just got it tonight, if you want it, I could give it to you. (it's free for you though)

BitDefender is does much better in protecting your system then AVG. you can ask the other about BitDefender AV.BitDefender is my second rank.

O.K. guys, as of tomorrow(different timezones and all), I'm getting rid of the AVG. To think I was actually getting used to it. I will probably go back to avast! I really liked using that over any other anti-virus. You know what else, AVG has this annoying advertisement that comes out from the bottom. I hate that. So, it's settled, AVG gets the boot.

    I don't have an antivirus.

I use default windows vista ultimate firewall, whatever else Vista has + anvir Task Manager for seeing the viruses before they come and that's about it.

Viruses are so big and stupid right now you can hardly call them viruses. All they try is to sell you stuff or use you a proxy for someone.

I've been using the same thing for a year now, and a friend challenged me for a scan. I was free as a bird. And i am a heavy browser.

it's not that bad. Nothing slowing you down... i use a virtual machine (win xp) if i am not sure about a file. that windows is indeed full of viruses. But usually i don't get infected. and if ido, i find the extra processes, i find the files, i wipe them clean, also anvir helps me track the registries they modified... and so on.

the days of the tiny viruses has long passed. Now they're huge applications. I even saw one done in .net. It was so fun. I decompiled it and looked inside. Basicly porn ads. I still remember when i was trying to learn how the smallest virus in the world worked on my 386. It had only 26 bytes.

Yes, and one of those huge applications was a rouge program by the name of AntivirusXP. I know a lot of you know about that program. What I can't figure out is how they tricked people into actually installing that crap.

Finally another member who views a virus in the same light as I do. I know of 4 people on the forum who don't run AV's. The master, myself, Kalin and, due to circumstances, young master brayden.
