All of a sudden? Have you tried restarting? Did you do anything on configs?

There might be a safety switch. My HP laptop has one and when you push it touchpad gets disabled.

I had a similar problem like yours but my keypad wasn't working either  ...

    Here's what I did:
    1. Turn off the laptop
    2. Take off the power plug
    3. Take off the battery - to the point where it doesn't have any contact with the laptop
    4. Wait for 5 seconds then put it back in.
    5. Turn the laptop on

    I hope I helped :)

I had a similar problem with my keyboard volume not working.

My keyboard is a 'Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000'.

On investigation I found a service for it (I use windows 7) was not starting somehow.

Human Interface Device Access or HID was not started.

So I set it to automatic and restarted it and it worked fine again.

    Maybe that will work.
