    Life is all about ass; you're either covering it, laughing it off, kicking it, kissing it, busting it, trying to get a piece of it, or behaving like one.

    Take a look at these:

    Transform Windows XP into Windows 7 without using Customization Pack

    Transform Windows Vista into Windows 7 without using Customization Pack

    A word of warning/ Reminder:

    Don't be over-obsessed with the 'transformation'...if you put in too much 'looks-enhancement', expect your PC's performance to be affected...it's natural. Do it sparingly in order to balance looks and performance...you don't have to change/add everything that's suggested on the 'guides'...

    @saturnguy

    Did your son use a transformation pack? If he did, it's no wonder...my advise is NEVER EVER use a customization pack...it would slow down your PC and sometimes you would face problems uninstalling the transformation pack.

    If need be, change/add individual apps...that way, you would know which particular 'enhancement'...is it the sidebar, the transparency or the 'vista-ish' taskbar that's causing the problem...and then you can uninstall it and try other alternatives.

    I believe all these 4 comes along with Seven Transformation Pack. I used this pack (version 2, 3 & 4) on my 2GB RAM PC and definitely it made my PC quite slow. But am not sure running/installing them individually make any big difference.

    I won't say BIG but at least there's some difference. A transformation pack includes lots of thing...more than the ones mentioned here. That's why it slows down the PC terribly. Individual apps the way to go...you can trust me on that.

    Thanks
    I don't want to use "big" transformation pack. It slows down the PC
    But I like new win7 start bar, so will try only ViGlance-win 7 superbar.
