How To Download And Use Kaspersky Offline Updates
It is a major inconvenience to those users who don’t have an internet connection and rely on friends/family/internet-cafes for getting updates. Kaspersky had officially stopped providing offline updates a couple of years back. Still it supports an alternate way to download and distribute Kaspersky database updates offline. This is using the "Kaspersky Updater GUI".

New build of Kaspersky Updater is available.
Build 2.1.0.43 (March 2, 2010)
Changed:
1. Optimized mechanism of purging the temporary folder.
2. Fixed error which sometimes caused the temporary folder to purge.
3. Folder creation dialogue now allows to create a new folder.
4. Scheduler complemented with a function allowing to postpone download of updates on start-up of the GUI.
5. Added the option to download updates for Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Mac OS X (build 8.0.2.460).
6. Added Portuguese version of the GUI (Brazilian Portuguese).
7. Other minor improvements.
Use of the Software does not guarantee timely updating anti-virus databases and maintenance of Kaspersky Lab program products in actualized state.
This tool is capable of creating a copy of Kaspersky’s update server on your local storage (USB/hard-disk). If you don’t wish to download everything present in Kaspersky’s server, you can specify your product and version number. This information can be obtained by right clicking on Kaspersky’s system tray icon and selecting About from the context menu. Kaspersky Universal Updater supports pretty much every Kaspersky product out there including UNIX builds.
Once Downloaded, you can configure your Kaspersky to update from the download and not online, as follows:
1. Download the tool from here & save to PC
2. Extract the downloaded zip file
3. Run KasperskyUpdater.exe
4. Now it opens & shows a window - see 1st pic above
5. Select the Kaspersky versions for which you would like to do offline update
6. Click Apply, after you have made the selection
7. In the same window now click on "Settings & Services". See second pic above
8. Here you could specify the download location, proxy configuration, and other settings.
9. As appropriate, select/change the settins. Then again click Apply.
10. Once you are ready, click Start to download the updates.
Points to note:
1. It remembers that how much update is already downloaded and saved
2. For the first run/download/save, it would take a long time
3. From second run/download/save, it would only download the new update files, which are around few KBs
4. See the Return codes of the Updater utility here
5. Report issues/problems/suggestion in the kaspersky forum here
