another tip for optimizing ram using in 7.....:

1 Start

2 run and type msconfig

3 click the Boot tab

4 go to Advanced Options

5 select Maximum Memory checkbox

6 Restart pc



why this?

Windows 7 do not use all available ram.
In Win7 32 with 4 gb by default the use is around 3.5 gb and in Win7 64 with 8 gb the use is around 7.1 gb....

In fact there is another tip which I've wanted to share for a very long time but never did because I wanted to do a more detailed benchmark. Numbers are very important to me because I don't want to be sharing tips which "I feel".

Modern computers comes with a lot of features such as Bluetooth, DVD/BD drive, webcam, card reader, wifi, network adapter, Infrared, internal modem, and etc. Think about it, how often do you really use those built-in specifications? I know I don't so I went ahead and disable all those unneeded features in Device Manager. Surprisingly my boot up time decreased noticeably. I need to run benchmarks before and after disabling to see what has improved.

I dint run a benchmark,but boot-times were much better , especially since i had a fualty DVD drive,(+ it was 1st in the boot order).It defenitly took some time (spin up n spin down, i guess not sure). Something as simple as Gamebooster disabled 24 services on win7 and around 5 running process, and still dint break anything, which i usually use.

Do not use this function. Also do not check the processors part either.

Msconfig for tweaking should be avoided.

My friend could not boot her pc after messing around in msconfig.

MSConfig should honestly only be used by people that know what they're doing.
