Is it to create the flip-page effect on a webpage, to create a printed flipbook (animated by flipping pages(corners) ), or and effect for video production?

Sorry for the delay (my SSD has gone downhill and I lost a few files from the last days, including a small comparison of flipbook solutions...) In short, there is no good flipbook software for linux, that I know. Most of them are for Windows (some for Mac).

There are online services where you can host a flipbook ((y) @A Guy) for free (usually watermarked/page-limited) or paying some bucks, and some free/paid conversion services. Some of these offer the download of stand-alone flipbooks after payment.

DIY solutions: some based on htmlt5+css3, and/or javascript (jquery plugins, turn.js...), others based on flash. Can be stored on any media, requiring an external web browser unless it is embedded into the media (portable browser, browser wrapper apps...), or the flipbook is flash-based (.swf) and converted into an stand-alone executable file (usually for Windows).

Some of the flash based versions have a main .swf, and changes are done by dropping images into a folder and editing an XML file. Others have the source file (.fla) (to be edited in Windows/Mac using Adobe Flash editor).

    Unordered list of services:
bubbl.in (+bookiza), FlexPaper, Flipsnack, issuu, youblisher, FlashPageFlip, ezflippr, PageFlip, Pixelwit PageFlip, PageFlip-Flap, fliphtml5, InstantFlipbook, et cetera.

On github you can find source code of some examples.

You can also try to run any flipbook software for Windows through WINE.

There was a plugin for OpenOffice, WPS Office but I think only working within Windows.
