    Hi guys,

I tried my hand at Ubuntu about 4 years ago but did not like it at all, mainly because of hardware support issues. I now decided to do a little project which involves setting up Ubuntu Server as a Samba server. I do not want to install a GUI.

The problem now is... I know nothing about linux, I do not have the time to search for hours on end to find solutions for my problems and probably the biggest problem of all is, I have been working on MS Operating Systems since 1986 (when DOS was an operating system and not a hacking attack) and got so used to GUI's that the adjustment to go back to a CLI is quite daunting.

At this point I have installed Ubuntu but need to edit smb.config. How on earth does one use Vim to do this?

Saw that you found this... but remember step 0 should be to make a backup:
    #cp smb.config smb.config.<DATE>
